On February 3, 2026, a collision occurred involving a vehicle and a bicyclist on North Abel Street between West Calaveras Boulevard and Weller Lane. The Milpitas Police Department responded promptly, urging drivers to avoid the area due to traffic delays. The condition of the bicyclist has not been released. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes during peak hours.

Rivian Establishes New Facility in Milpitas

Rivian, the electric vehicle manufacturer, has expanded its presence in Silicon Valley by opening a new facility in Milpitas. This development aligns with the city’s Economic Development Strategy and Climate Action Plan, aiming to bolster sustainable transportation initiatives in the region. The Milpitas City Council unanimously approved the Economic Development Incentive Agreement on March 4, 2025, solidifying the partnership between the city and Rivian.
