Independent investigation continues

The Washington State Office of Independent Investigations is continuing its review of a deadly force incident involving Lacey police that occurred late last month at an apartment complex. Investigators remain on scene review and evidence collection, and a public tip line is still open for anyone with information related to the case.

Officials have emphasized that the investigation is independent of local law enforcement and will conclude with a public report once completed. The name of the person who died is expected to be released by the county coroner at a later date.

SR 510 closure still affecting travel

Drivers are still feeling the effects of a full closure on State Route 510 near Lacey, where emergency repairs are underway after a culvert failure beneath the roadway. The closure remains in place between Old Pacific Highway Southeast and Rockcress Drive Southeast.

Transportation officials say repairs are progressing, but the route is expected to stay closed around the clock for now. Detours remain in effect, and commuters are encouraged to allow extra travel time, especially during peak hours.
