A woman and two children were rescued from a second-floor balcony Wednesday evening, Oct. 21, during a fire at Shoreline Village Apartments in Richland. Responders used ladders to reach them.
Richland Fire & Emergency Services described the fire as starting in a dryer. The apartment quickly filled with black smoke and visible flames, and the buildingโs sprinkler system was already helping control the fire. The complex is three stories and is on Duportail Street near Tanglewood Drive.
Other residents were helped out or evacuated during the response. Richland Police Department, Benton County Fire District 4, Kennewick Fire Department, Pasco Fire Department and Richland Electrical also responded.
Were there injuries? NewsTalk 870 reported on Oct. 23 that no injuries were reported. An earlier account said it was not yet known whether anyone was hurt, so the later report provided a more settled update.
