Keller City Council acts, school district shifts course, educators celebrated

Development update near Main Street

Keller City Council moved forward this week with changes to a planned residential project known as Rosebury. The updated site plan trims the neighborhood to 21 single-family homes and adjusts access points to better manage traffic along North Main Street.

Council members also approved amendments to local tree preservation rules tied to the project. Supporters said the changes strike a balance between growth and environmental protection, while opponents raised concerns about long-term impacts. The development remains in the early stages, with additional reviews expected before construction begins.

Keller ISD backs away from district split

After weeks of intense debate and community reaction, Keller ISD leaders confirmed that a proposal to divide the school district is no longer being considered. The idea had been floated as one possible response to ongoing financial pressures.

The decision follows student walkouts, parent feedback, and public meetings that highlighted deep concerns about how a split could affect students and neighborhoods. District leaders said the focus will now return to budget planning and campus-level solutions without altering district boundaries.

Educators receive record-setting classroom grants

There was also positive news across Keller ISD classrooms this week as the district’s education foundation awarded more than $136,000 in grants to teachers. The funding will support a wide range of projects, from STEM activities and literacy programs to fine arts and special education resources.

Foundation leaders described the grants as an investment in creativity and student engagement, noting this was the largest total awarded in the program’s history. Teachers across all feeder patterns received support.

Keller high school students are preparing for upcoming academic and career competitions, while district campuses continue naming teachers of the year for the 2025–26 school year.
