Community Day Brings Services Together

Highway 1 Crash Claims Young Life

Local residents are mourning after authorities identified a 10-year-old Lompoc child who died in a crash on Highway 1 earlier this week. Investigators say the single-vehicle collision occurred north of Santa Lucia Canyon Road when the car left the roadway and overturned.

The child was ejected during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other young passengers were seriously injured and transported to hospitals for treatment. Officials have stated that drugs or alcohol are not believed to be factors in the collision.

Schools connected to the family have shared messages of support and made counseling resources available to students and staff as the community grieves.
