General Plan hearings conclude

The Town of Sahuarita wrapped up a key round of public hearings this week tied to its long-term General Plan update. A Planning and Zoning Commission meeting was held Wednesday evening at La Villita Community Center, giving residents a chance to share feedback on growth, land use, and infrastructure priorities.

The plan looks ahead 10 to 20 years and will next move to a public hearing before the Mayor and Town Council later this month. Town officials say community input gathered this week will help shape recommendations before the council vote.

Parks and Recreation stays busy

Local families had no shortage of options Friday as Parks and Recreation continued its February programming. Tot Time and fitness classes were underway at Anamax Recreation Center, part of a packed calendar that includes youth, adult, and adaptive programs throughout the month.

Registration remains open for several upcoming activities, including family events and inclusive sports programs. Parks staff say February is shaping up to be one of the more active months of the winter season.

Looking ahead to community events

While not happening this weekend, residents are already marking calendars for mid- and late-February events. The annual Grace Church Car Show is set for February 14 along Sahuarita Road, bringing classic cars and family-friendly activities to town.

Later in the month, Rodeo Break Camp at La Villita Community Center will offer full-day activities for kids while school is out, blending crafts, sports, and hands-on projects.
