City Meetings and February Schedule Updates

The City of Sachse has adjusted its February calendar, and residents who follow local boards or attend meetings may want to take note. Two meetings originally planned for early February will no longer be held.

The Planning and Zoning Commission meeting scheduled for Monday, February 9, has been cancelled. In addition, the Parks and Recreation Board meeting that was set for Thursday, February 12, has also been removed from the calendar. No replacement dates have been announced for either meeting.

Other major meetings later in the month are still on the schedule. The next regular City Council meeting is set for Monday, February 16. That meeting will be followed by the Economic Development Corporation board meeting on February 19, which remains unchanged.

Community events are also continuing as planned. Among them is the Daddy Daughter Dance on February 20, a popular annual event that remains on the city’s calendar.

Police Promote Safe Trade Zone for Online Sales

The Sachse Police Department is continuing to remind residents about its Safe Trade Zone program, designed to make online buying and selling safer for everyone involved.

The Safe Trade Zone is located at the Public Safety Building on Sachse Road. It offers indoor space during regular business hours, along with clearly marked, well-lit parking spaces that are monitored by cameras and available at all hours.

Police encourage residents to use the Safe Trade Zone when meeting someone to buy or sell items arranged through online marketplaces. The department says the program helps reduce the risk of theft, fraud, and disputes, while providing a neutral and secure location for exchanges.

Permits and Inspections: Important Reminders

City officials are also sharing reminders related to permits and inspections within Sachse city limits. Permits are required for most types of construction, repairs, and system upgrades, whether work is being done by homeowners or contractors.

For inspections, requests must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. to receive next-business-day service. Residents and builders are encouraged to plan ahead to avoid project delays.

Development Services continues to observe shortened office hours on Fridays, with the office closing at 11:30 a.m. Emergency electrical or gas inspections outside of normal business hours are handled through the police department’s non-emergency line.

City staff say staying informed about meeting schedules, safety programs, and permit requirements can help residents avoid surprises and keep projects moving smoothly.
