A new full‑size H‑E‑B grocery store planned for 10137 I‑10 East is moving forward, with a recently filed permit for a convenience store, fuel station, and car wash on the same site. The construction schedule targets opening the fuel and car wash portion by early October.

The roughly $21 million grocery store is expected to follow by late 2026, adding hundreds of jobs and giving Converse residents another major shopping option closer to home as the northeast Bexar County corridor keeps growing.

Judson ISD board removes superintendent amid budget crisis

Judson ISD trustees voted this week to terminate Superintendent Milton Fields’ contract after about two and a half years in the district’s top job. The decision follows his placement on leave in January and comes as the district faces a multimillion‑dollar budget shortfall and campus performance concerns.

Deputy Superintendent Mary Duhart‑Toppen was named interim superintendent while the board works through the legal process and begins planning a search for new leadership. Pepper spray used after fight at Judson basketball game

Local law enforcement responded to a large fight after the Judson vs. Steele basketball game at Judson High School earlier this week. Officials say a Converse officer used pepper spray on two people who were fighting outside the stadium.

The two individuals were taken into custody by school district police, and authorities say there is no ongoing threat to students. The incident remains under review by law enforcement and district administrators.

Valentine’s pet adoptions with Converse Animal Care
