Hickory Field turf and upgrades move forward

The borough has issued a public notice that it is seeking state Green Acres funding for a major round of improvements at Hickory Field on Hickory Avenue. The concept plan calls for renovating the softball field and upgrading fencing, netting, splash pad, basketball court, and the pavilion, along with installing new synthetic turf on the infield.

A public hearing on the proposal is scheduled as part of the Mayor and Council meeting on Tuesday, February 17, at 8:00 p.m. at Borough Hall. Residents will be able to review the plans, hear a short presentation from the borough administrator, and offer comments before the application is finalized.

Mayor’s Wellness 5K registration now open

Registration is open for Bergenfield’s annual Mayor’s Wellness 5K Run and Walk, set for Sunday, April 26, at Bergenfield High School. Early-bird pricing is available for those who sign up ahead of race day, and organizers are again expecting several hundred runners, walkers, local vendors, and community partners.
