Yorkville and Oswego students are teaming up today for the 15th Communities vs. Cancer event at Oswego High School. The daylong fundraiser features six basketball games between the two schools, starting at 9 a.m., with fans asked to enter through the athletics entrance. Proceeds support cancer-related causes, turning a full slate of rivalry matchups into an annual community tradition.

Library fills February with youth activities

The Yorkville Public Library’s Youth Services department has rolled out a busy February schedule at the Game Farm Road location. Families can sign up for a new escape room-style adventure, where groups race the clock to solve clues and unlock boxes before time runs out. A virtual 3D printing program walks kids through using Tinkercad to design their own objects, which staff then print on the library’s 3D printer. Additional crafts and reading activities are planned throughout the month, with registration handled through the library.

Water main improvements head to bidding

The city is moving forward on a major 2026 water main improvement project and is accepting sealed bids until late morning on February 9. The work calls for installing roughly 11,000 feet of new ductile iron water main, along with curb, sidewalk, and roadway restoration on affected streets.
