Skaters Hit the Ice Today and Sunday

The Walker Ice & Fitness Center is busy this weekend, with a Learn to Skate session on the schedule late this morning and youth cross‑ice hockey continuing through the weekend. Families looking to get kids more comfortable on skates have a structured option close to home, while more experienced players get extra ice time.

Public skate and community programs at the rink continue to anchor winter recreation in the city, offering residents a way to stay active even as temperatures stay cold.

2026 Community Event Dates Locked In

The city has firmed up its slate of free, family‑friendly events for 2026, giving residents plenty to look forward to as the year unfolds. The annual Easter Egg Hunt will return to City Central Park at the end of March, followed by the Memorial Day Parade in May.

Summer will again feature the Walker Standale Summer Concert Series at Walker Community Park, with shows planned in June, July, and August. The Pumpkin Bash is scheduled for early October, and Walker Winterfest will close out the year in December at the Walker Ice & Fitness Center.

Walker property owners will soon see their 2026 assessment change notices arrive in the mail. Officials are encouraging residents to gather sales data, appraisals, or photos before they come in so the board has clear information to work with.
