Youth baseball tournament brings teams to town

Youth baseball teams from around the region are in Hurricane for the Hustleball Winter Tournament, running Friday through Saturday at local fields. The event is focused on development and sportsmanship, with 10U–12U divisions and brackets arranged so similarly skilled teams face one another. Organizers also planned a Friday night dinner and card-trading tables to give players a chance to relax and get to know each other off the field.

Legacy Park packed with livestock, horses and more

Washington County Legacy Park on the west side of Hurricane is especially busy this weekend. The Grand Circle Pigeon Show is in town, along with the Rocky Mountain Jackpot Series livestock show, bringing youth exhibitors and their animals from across the region. A WCBRA barrel race and other arena events are also scheduled, keeping the fairgrounds-style complex humming with activity and filling local hotels and restaurants.

New Lichfield Family Gymnasium now open

Hurricane Recreation is highlighting that the Lichfield Family Gymnasium is now open for drop-in play and rentals on 740 North 200 West. The four-court facility offers extended weekday and Saturday hours, with time for both open gym and reserved use. Residents can call the recreation department for rentals or check the online court schedules to see when city programs, leagues or tournaments are using the space.

The gym adds to a growing list of local recreation options, alongside the Community Center, Fine Arts Center and upcoming seasonal sports. City staff continue to encourage residents to register early for programs that fill quickly, especially youth leagues and summer camps.

Looking ahead

Between tournament visitors, activity at Legacy Park and new indoor space at the Lichfield gym, Hurricane is settling into a busy late-winter rhythm. City plans and recent updates point to more recreation improvements later this year, including work on additional courts and long-range planning for parks and trails.
