Acworth Daily Brief: February 7, 2026

A cool, sunny stretch is closing out the week across Cobb County, with highs around the upper 50s and chilly nights in the low 30s – a pleasant backdrop for a fairly busy weekend in and around Acworth.

Boating safety class at Acworth Police Department

This morning, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is hosting a Boating Safety Class at 9:00 a.m. at the Acworth Police Department on Acworth Industrial Drive. The course gives new and experienced boaters a chance to brush up on the basics before lake season ramps up, and it is being held at the city’s police headquarters.

County marks Go Red for Women Day

On Friday, the Cobb County Board of Commissioners highlighted women’s heart health by recognizing February 6 as Go Red for Women Day countywide. The proclamation encourages residents, including those in Acworth, to support local efforts that raise awareness of cardiovascular disease in women.

Commissioners wrap up three-day retreat

Also this week, Cobb commissioners concluded a three-day board retreat held February 4–6 at Chattahoochee Tech in Marietta. The retreat ran from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day and brought the full board together at the South Cobb Drive campus.

City Hall roundup and dates to watch

Here in Acworth, the Mayor and Board of Aldermen held their first regular council meeting of the month on Thursday evening, February 5, at City Hall on Center Street. Council meets again on Thursday, February 19, with a work session preceding that meeting on Monday, February 16.

Looking a bit ahead, the Acworth Tourism Bureau Authority meets Thursday, February 12, in the afternoon, followed that evening by a community open house at the Acworth Community Center on the proposed 2028 SPLOST renewal project list. Farther out, the city will again host the Special Olympics Polar Plunge at Cauble Park on Saturday, February 21, drawing participants and supporters from across the region.

Weather outlook

After Friday’s sunny, seasonable conditions, the weekend continues under mostly clear skies and cool temperatures, which should make for comfortable conditions for outdoor errands or a stroll through downtown.
