Train incident still under review

Villa Park police are continuing to work with Metra authorities after a pedestrian was struck by a train on Thursday, February 5. Officers responded to the scene, provided initial medical aid and coordinated with paramedics, who took the injured adult to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The intersection where the collision occurred was temporarily closed while Metra Police took over the investigation and documented the scene. As of this weekend, officials have not released an update on the person’s condition, and the inquiry into what led up to the incident remains ongoing.

Coffee with the Village Board

This morning’s village calendar featured Coffee with the Village Board, scheduled from 9 to 10 a.m. as a casual Saturday meet-up between residents and village leaders. Later in the month, a Cocoa Crawl on Saturday, February 21, will invite participants to stop into local businesses and sample different cocoa-themed drinks. Tickets are listed at $10 for ages 16 and up, with younger children able to join for free alongside a participating adult, making it an accessible way to support the business community in the middle of winter.

Construction and fire service updates

The village continues to point residents to earlier updates on two notable infrastructure items. Construction tied to The Union Villa Park development near the Villa Park Recreation Center on East Wildwood Avenue is expected to ramp up following late-January demolition and site work, bringing visible change to that part of town as the project moves forward.

In addition, Fire Station 81 remains temporarily closed for renovation work that began in January, a project the village estimated would last roughly four to five months. Residents are encouraged to watch official channels for any changes to timelines or service impacts as construction progresses through the spring.
