Dangerous cold and strong winds this weekend

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory and an extreme cold warning for the Camden County area, including Lindenwold. Gusty northwest winds and plunging wind chills are expected from today into Sunday morning, with temperatures feeling well below zero at times.

Residents are urged to limit time outdoors, dress in layers, and watch for icy spots as brief snow showers move through the region. High winds may bring scattered power outages, so it’s a good idea to charge devices, check flashlights, and secure any loose outdoor items before conditions worsen.

Civic calendar: Borough and school meetings

The borough’s upcoming schedule is busy. The Park & Recreation Board is set to meet on Monday, February 9, at 7:00 p.m. A regular council meeting follows on Wednesday, February 11, at 6:00 p.m. at the municipal building. Both sessions give residents a chance to hear updates and raise local concerns.

Looking ahead, borough offices will be closed on Friday, February 13, as well as on Monday, February 16, in observance of Presidents Day. Residents with business at borough offices may want to plan visits early in the week.

The Lindenwold Board of Education also meets on Monday, February 9, at 7:00 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Families can follow board discussions on programs, facilities, and budgeting as planning continues for the remainder of the school year.

Snow-removal help for seniors with medical needs

Camden County has recently adjusted its senior snow removal program to focus on residents 65 and older who face serious medical challenges. Priority is now given to those who need clear access for dialysis, chemotherapy, or other critical treatments at home or off-site.

The program activates after significant snowfalls, offering limited assistance to create a safe path in and out of qualifying homes. Officials stress that the service is meant as a last resort, so seniors and caregivers are encouraged to line up regular help from family, neighbors, or paid services when possible. With more winter weather in the forecast, spreading the word to vulnerable neighbors can make a real difference.
