Lebanon starts this Sunday with a full slate of community events. A Galentine’s themed market is scheduled at the Boys & Girls Club from late morning into the afternoon, featuring local women owned vendors, treats and space to linger with friends. At the Senior Center, the long running Square Circlers club is marking its seventy seventh year with an afternoon of square dancing and strawberry shortcake, open for community members who want to watch or join in.

Elsewhere around town, a morning pancake breakfast and silent auction is planned in support of the high school baseball program. Later in the day, charity bingo events at a local brewery are set to raise money for area causes while giving neighbors a casual way to wrap up the weekend.

Civic calendar: meetings coming up

The city’s public meeting calendar points to a busy week ahead. On Tuesday, February 10, the Library Advisory Committee is scheduled to meet at the public library in the late afternoon. The following evening, Wednesday, February 11, the City Council is slated to hold its regular meeting at the same location, with time blocked out into the evening.

Looking a bit further ahead, the Planning Commission is expected to meet on Wednesday, February 18, also at the library. Agendas and supporting documents are typically posted in advance on the city’s website, and residents can attend in person or follow along through the usual channels.

Library and community events

The library is closed today, February 8, but a run of regular programs returns this week. Baby and Me story time, teen art activities and preschool story sessions are on the schedule starting Wednesday and Thursday, giving families several options for free indoor activities as winter weather continues.

Community event listings also note that the downtown association’s First Friday gatherings and a recent family wellness night kicked off the month on February 6. Toward the end of February, an Oregon author fair at the Senior Center is planned as a regional highlight, bringing writers and readers together for a day of talks and book browsing.
