MARTA disruption at Lenox Station

Rail service was temporarily stopped at Lenox Station Friday morning after MARTA police reported a trespasser on the roof above the platform. Shuttle buses were set up between Lenox and neighboring stations, and riders were offered an $8 rideshare credit while crews worked the incident. Service later resumed.

Push to change the airport’s long-running tax break

State lawmakers from Clayton County are backing legislation that would narrow the property tax exemption covering much of Hartsfield-Jackson’s footprint. Supporters say the change could send tens of millions of dollars a year back to county and city budgets, while Atlanta officials warn new costs could squeeze airport capital projects and raise fees for airlines and travelers. The bill was added to the Georgia House calendar and could come up for a vote soon.

Midtown’s IPIC theater sets an April closing

The dine-in IPIC theater at Colony Square is slated to close April 28, according to public notices tied to layoffs. The closure would affect more than 160 workers and leaves Midtown’s revamped entertainment hub without its movie anchor for now. The company has cited a bankruptcy process, and it’s not yet clear what will replace the space.

New airport exhibit highlights a century of ATL history

A new walk-through installation connecting concourses D and E is showcasing 100 years of the airport’s growth, from early air mail days to its modern role as a global crossroads. Leaders framed it as both a history lesson for travelers and a way to spotlight the airport’s ties to Atlanta’s economy and culture ahead of major visitor traffic expected this year.
