Atlanta Metro Gas Near $4; Diesel Tops $5.28 in AAA Check
Atlanta metro regular gas averaged $3.953 and diesel $5.289 on July 28, with both prices higher than a week and a year earlier, AAA reported.
Atlanta-area drivers are paying an Atlanta metro average of $3.953 per gallon for regular gasoline and $5.289 for diesel, according to AAAโs price check dated July 28, 2026. Regular gasoline and diesel both increased from the prior week and remain substantially more expensive than they were a year earlier.
Regular gasoline moves closer to $4
The Atlanta metro average for regular gasoline rose 17 cents from the prior week, when AAA listed the average at $3.783 per gallon. The July 28 average was also about $1.01 higher than the year-ago figure of $2.942.
Those figures describe the metro average, not the price at every station in Atlanta. Pump prices can vary by neighborhood, brand, local competition, payment method and proximity to major roads.
Diesel rises more than 25 cents in a week
Diesel reached a $5.289-per-gallon Atlanta metro average on July 28. That was about 26 cents higher than the previous weekโs $5.033 average and roughly $1.67 above the year-ago level of $3.615.
The diesel increase can raise operating expenses for trucking companies, delivery fleets, contractors, construction crews, landscapers and other businesses that rely on commercial vehicles. Those costs may affect delivery charges, service calls or prices for goods moved around the region, although the AAA data does not show how individual businesses are responding.
What Atlanta households may notice
For commuters and families, higher regular-gas prices can add to the cost of daily driving, school trips, errands and weekend travel. The effect may be greater for households with long commutes or multiple vehicles, while people who can combine trips, use transit or work remotely may have more flexibility.
A July 27 WSB-TV report, also based on AAA data, listed Atlanta-area regular gasoline at about $3.96 and diesel at about $5.27. The slightly different figures reflect the separate reporting dates and the regular updates to AAAโs price tables.
Drivers should treat the AAA figures as a benchmark rather than a station-by-station quote. Before filling up, compare several nearby locations and account for cash, loyalty or credit-card differences. Share the highest and lowest pump prices you are seeing around Atlanta.
