Lubbock Local Headlines: Primary Election Day, road closures, and elevated fire danger
Lubbock, TX – March 3, 2026 – Primary Election Day updates, a voting-center closure, key road and sewer repairs, and a weekend crash report.
Primary Election Day: key updates
Lubbock County voters are heading to the polls today for the party primaries, with local officials tracking turnout closely after early voting set a notable local benchmark.
One Election Day change: the Wolfforth Community Center is not operating as a voting center today due to a reported shortage of Election Day judges. Election administrators routed voters to other county voting centers.
Early voting turnout topped 30,500 ballots countywide, a level election officials described as the highest early vote participation in at least two decades. The same coverage cited nearly 199,000 registered voters in the county for this primary cycle.
