Police search for driver after trooper cruiser is hit on the Lodge

Michigan State Police say a trooper’s vehicle was rear-ended Sunday night in the southbound lanes of the Lodge while the trooper was inside the car handling a separate crash. Investigators say the impact pushed the patrol car into a wall, and the driver of the SUV ran from the scene. The trooper was evaluated and reported to be OK, and police are still working to locate the 29-year-old Detroit woman they say was driving. Officials used the incident to stress Michigan’s move-over requirement when emergency lights are present.

Detroit Grand Prix names Mayor Sheffield as Sunday grand marshal

The Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix announced Sheffield will serve as grand marshal on Sunday, May 31, during the IndyCar race weekend on the downtown street circuit along the riverfront. Organizers said she will take part in race-weekend activities, including the pre-race moments that help kick off the main event. The Grand Prix returns May 29–31, with much of the footprint expected to remain accessible to fans for free viewing areas around the course.
