Atlanta Weekend Buzz: United Home Opener, Festivals, and a Full March Calendar
Atlanta, GA – March 7, 2026 – Atlanta United kicks off its home opener as festivals, concerts and food events fill a warm early March weekend.
Atlanta is stepping into March with a packed calendar and near-spring temperatures, and this weekend is shaping up to be one of the busiest yet.
Atlanta United Home Opener
Atlanta United hosts its 2026 home opener Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, drawing thousands of fans back to downtown for the first regular-season home match of the year. The match is expected to bring heavy foot traffic to nearby restaurants and bars as supporters gather for pregame celebrations.
Atlanta Fair Returns Downtown
The Atlanta Fair officially opened Friday along Central Avenue SW and runs through April 12. The longtime spring tradition features carnival rides, midway games and classic fair food. Organizers say the fair’s extended run gives families multiple chances to enjoy the festivities as the weather warms up.
Music and Culture Across the City
It’s a big weekend for live entertainment. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra performs Beethoven and Bruckner at Symphony Hall on March 7 and 8. Concertgoers can also catch alternative rock, touring DJs and comedy showcases at venues across Midtown, Buckhead and the Westside.
Food lovers are heading to Lawrenceville for the Sip & Swine BBQ Festival, a two-day event combining professional barbecue competitions, live music and family-friendly activities.
Georgia Beer Day Celebrated Statewide
Saturday also marks Georgia Beer Day, with participating breweries across metro Atlanta offering specialty glassware and fundraising support for the state’s craft brewers guild. Many taprooms are hosting live music and small pop-up markets throughout the day.
With highs near 80 degrees and a full slate of events, city officials are encouraging residents to plan ahead for traffic and parking in major entertainment districts.
