A new diverging diamond interchange at Interstate 70 and Picadilly Road is now open, marking a significant milestone for traffic flow in far northeast Aurora.

City and state transportation officials say the redesign is intended to ease congestion, improve safety and better handle continued growth near the airport corridor. Drivers may notice a different traffic pattern than traditional interchanges, with lanes briefly crossing to allow smoother left turns onto the highway.

Aurora Athletes Take the State Stage

It is a big week for high school sports across Aurora. Dozens of local swimmers have qualified for the Class 5A state meet, with 51 individual competitors and 15 relay teams from Aurora-area schools earning spots in the championship field.

On the wrestling mat, Aurora wrestlers are also competing in the 5A state tournament, with brackets now set and several local athletes entering as strong contenders in their weight classes.

Meanwhile, immigration policy is drawing attention in the broader metro area. Activists are urging the owner of a vacant prison in Hudson to reject any potential contract to house federal immigration detainees.
