Aurora emergency repairs restrict lanes at Chambers and Mississippi

Emergency water repairs are restricting traffic at the intersection of Chambers Road and Mississippi Avenue in Aurora, and the city has not posted an estimated completion date.

Aurora Water is repairing critical infrastructure in work the City of Aurora identifies as emergency activity. The current restriction affects northbound and southbound Chambers Road lanes and westbound Mississippi Avenue lanes at the intersection.

What drivers should expect

The city lists the restrictions as lasting until further notice. That wording means the work does not have a published end date in the current road-construction update. Drivers who regularly use Chambers Road or westbound Mississippi Avenue should check Aurora’s latest road information before leaving and allow additional travel time.

The city update does not identify a specific detour for the emergency repair. Commuters should not assume that any alternate route will remain clear, especially because other Aurora work zones are active in separate parts of the city.

Other Aurora restrictions are active

Aurora’s road-construction information also lists restrictions at Colfax Avenue and Havana Street, as well as on Center Avenue between Nome Street and Peoria Street. Those locations are separate from the Chambers-Mississippi emergency repair, but they may limit route choices for drivers moving through Aurora.

The city has also issued a weekly update for the Parker-Quincy-Smoky Hill project. From July 27 through July 31, the project includes lane restrictions affecting that corridor. The broader project schedule is expected to continue through at least December 2026, with some work potentially extending into January 2027.
