Human Rights Plan Ahead of World Cup

The City of Atlanta has officially launched its ATL26 Human Rights Action Plan, a framework designed to guide how the city prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The plan, led by the Mayor’s Office of One Atlanta and adopted by City Council, outlines how the city intends to uphold human rights standards as it hosts one of the world’s largest sporting events. Leaders say the framework focuses on equity, worker protections, public safety, and community engagement as global attention turns toward Atlanta.

The rollout comes just over a year before matches are expected to bring thousands of visitors to the region.

City Council Livestream Moves to ATL26

In another government update, Atlanta City Council meetings are now streaming exclusively through ATL26.

As of March 9, Council Communications no longer directly livestreams full council and committee meetings. Residents are now directed to watch meetings live on the ATL26 YouTube channel, with archived meetings available through the city’s website.

Officials say the change is intended to streamline access and centralize official city broadcasts.

Election Board Reviews May Primary Plans

On Wednesday, March 11, the Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections held its regularly scheduled March meeting at the Government Center in downtown Atlanta.

Among the key agenda items was a review and discussion of the upcoming May 19, 2026 primary election, along with updates connected to the 2026 legislative session. With early voting and ballot preparation timelines approaching, county officials are working through operational updates to ensure readiness.
