Planning Commission Meets Tonight; CERT Training Wraps; Library Storytime Set for Wednesday

Fontana residents have a busy week of civic meetings and community events across the city.

Planning Commission Meets Tonight

The Fontana Planning Commission is scheduled to meet Tuesday evening, March 17, at 6 p.m. at the Steelworkers’ Auditorium. Commissioners are expected to review development and land-use items affecting local neighborhoods.

Planning Commission meetings often shape future housing, commercial projects and zoning decisions, making them an important stop for residents who want to stay involved in how the city grows.

CERT Training Concludes at Emergency Operations Center

The city’s Spring 2026 Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training wrapped up Sunday, March 15, at the Fontana Police Department’s Emergency Operations Center.

The three-day course trained participants in basic disaster response skills, including fire safety, light search and rescue, and team organization. Graduates received emergency gear and certification after completing the 24-hour program.

City officials say CERT classes help strengthen neighborhood readiness by preparing volunteers to assist family members and neighbors during emergencies.

Storytime at Lewis Library Wednesday

Families with young readers can head to the Fontana Lewis Library & Technology Center on Wednesday, March 18, from 2 to 3 p.m. for a free Storytime program.

The weekly event features books, songs, crafts and interactive activities designed for children ages 6 to 11. Library staff say the program encourages literacy while giving families a fun midweek activity.

With public meetings, emergency preparedness training and youth programming all happening this week, Fontana continues to offer residents a mix of civic engagement and family-friendly events.
