67th Ave Corridor: July 7 traffic shift & Hatfield Rd closure
Peoria AZ: July 7 traffic shifts 67th Ave to one lane each direction with left-turn limits; Hatfield Rd closes at 67th for six 54-inch pipes.
On July 7, drivers on 67th Avenue between Pinnacle Peak Road and Hatfield Road are facing a new traffic pattern, according to a June 11, 2026 construction update from the City of Peoria.
The city says 67th Avenue traffic will shift to the east side of the road and remain one lane in each direction, with left turns restricted, to support the project’s next storm-drain phase.
The same update also says Hatfield Road will be closed at 67th Avenue at that time while crews install six 54-inch pipes diagonally across 67th Avenue.
July 7 on-the-ground changes on 67th Avenue
In the June 11 update, the City of Peoria described the July 7 shift as follows:
- Traffic shifts to the east side of 67th Avenue.
- Roadway stays one lane each direction.
- Left turns are restricted during the traffic-control configuration.
- The shift is timed to start work on the west side of 67th Avenue at Hatfield Road.
The city also noted that, heading into the shift, crews had recently paved the east side and were preparing the roadway surface for the next traffic-control setup.
Hatfield Road closure at 67th Avenue (during the July 7 shift)
The City of Peoria says Hatfield Road will be closed at 67th Avenue at the time of the July 7 shift. The work listed is installing storm-drain infrastructure, including:
- Six 54-inch pipes placed diagonally across 67th Avenue.
- The pipes are described as running from the south side of Hatfield Road to the wash on the east side of 67th Avenue.
What comes next after the shift: milling, potholing, then more pipe work
After the July 7 traffic shift, the City’s update says crews plan to:
- Mill (remove) asphalt on the west side of 67th Avenue at Hatfield Road.
- Conduct potholing to identify the specific depth and location of underground utilities (to help minimize conflicts).
- Then begin installing additional 54-inch storm drain pipes, with that work expected to begin sometime in mid-July.
As with most construction sequences, the city cautions that schedules can be impacted by factors like weather, materials timing, and resource availability.
Slow down: 30 mph reduced speed in the work zone
For safety, the City of Peoria says speed limits on 67th Avenue from Pinnacle Peak Road to Hatfield Road are reduced to 30 mph.
The city also states that access to residences and businesses is being maintained, though drivers should expect some routes to be less direct during the work.

Because many Peoria drivers use the wider corridor system, the City of Phoenix notes that its Happy Valley Road (67th to 35th Avenues) project includes long-term restrictions through summer 2027.
Phoenix says that includes reducing travel lanes to one lane in each direction throughout the project, which can compound delays when both corridors are restricted.
Pedestrian note: New River Trail closure near Hatfield
Peoria Economic Development’s project update says the New River Trail is closed at Hatfield Road (between Pinnacle Peak and Happy Valley) through December 2026.
