Beachwood-Area Gas and Diesel Prices Ease From Sunday

Drivers around Beachwood saw modest relief at the pump on Monday, July 27, but the latest AAA Cleveland-Lorain-Elyria metro averages show that regular gasoline and diesel remain substantially more expensive than they were a year ago.

AAA listed regular gasoline at $3.932 per gallon and diesel at $5.093 per gallon for the metro area. Those are regional averages, not the posted price at every Beachwood station.

Regular gasoline is down from Sunday but up for the week

The regular-gas average fell 0.9 cent from Sunday’s $3.941 per gallon. The weekly comparison points in the other direction: regular gasoline was 2.9 cents higher than the $3.903 average recorded a week earlier.

The year-over-year gap is much larger. AAA’s July 27 data put regular gasoline 82.5 cents per gallon above the $3.107 metro average from July 2025.

Diesel drops more in one day but is nearly flat week to week

Diesel fell 2 cents from Sunday’s $5.113 average. Compared with a week earlier, however, the change was effectively flat: Monday’s diesel average was just 0.1 cent higher than the $5.092 figure listed for the previous week.

Diesel’s longer-term increase is more pronounced. The current metro average is $1.411 per gallon higher than the $3.682 average recorded a year ago.

What the numbers mean locally

For commuters, the slight day-over-day decline may offer limited relief on the next fill-up, but regular gasoline is still running above last week’s level. Households that drive regularly for work, school, appointments, shopping or weekend travel may notice the difference when several fill-ups add up over the month.

The diesel increase matters especially for contractors, delivery operators, landscapers, service businesses and other companies that depend on work trucks or equipment. Higher fuel costs can affect operating budgets and may put pressure on delivery charges, service prices or the cost of moving materials. Restaurants and other businesses that rely on deliveries can also face indirect transportation costs, although the effect will vary by company.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration’s Cleveland weekly series provides additional regional fuel-price context, with its latest listed release dated July 21. A July 27 report from WBCL, citing GasBuddy’s petroleum analyst, described gasoline and diesel prices as higher and volatile over the prior week while noting that a weekend pullback in oil prices could moderate the pace of pump-price increases.

For Beachwood drivers, the takeaway is mixed: regular gasoline and diesel both eased from Sunday, regular gas is higher than a week ago, diesel is essentially unchanged week over week, and both fuels remain well above last year’s levels. Station prices can differ by location, brand, taxes and timing, so comparing nearby pumps may still make a difference.
