Goodman-area drivers face Route H bridge closure near Pineville

Route H is closed in both directions at the Goodin Hollow Creek bridge near Pineville as the Missouri Department of Transportation begins a replacement project scheduled to last several months.

The closure began July 27, 2026, and MoDOT’s July 28 Traveler Information System listing shows the bridge closed for reconstruction through December 1 under the current project schedule. That date is the contract completion target, not a guaranteed reopening date. Weather and other construction conflicts could change the timeline.

Where the closure is located

The affected bridge carries Route H over Goodin Hollow Creek between Interstate 49 and Business 71 near Pineville. All lanes are closed through the work zone, so drivers cannot cross the bridge on Route H.

The signed detour directs through traffic to I-49, McDonald County Route EE and Business 71. Drivers traveling between those routes should follow the marked detour rather than attempt to pass through the construction area.

Local access remains available

MoDOT says entrances and driveways near the bridge remain accessible. That means local access around the work area is being maintained, but the arrangement does not allow through traffic across the bridge.

For Goodman residents, the project is a countywide transportation issue rather than a closure of Goodman itself. Goodman and Pineville are both communities in McDonald County, and the Route H connection may matter to residents, workers, businesses and service vehicles traveling through the area.

Why the bridge is being replaced

The existing bridge was built in 1963. MoDOT describes it as deteriorating and requiring frequent maintenance. The replacement structure is planned to be 10 feet longer and four feet wider than the current bridge.

The project also includes new pavement striping and object markers. MoDOT estimates that the closure could last up to 126 days, while the contract calls for completion by December 1, 2026.

What drivers should do

Drivers should follow the signed detour, watch for construction signs and avoid trying to cross Route H at Goodin Hollow Creek. People who need access to nearby driveways or entrances should use the available local approach while recognizing that the bridge itself remains closed.

Because the schedule is an estimate and the December 1 date is a contract milestone, drivers should check MoDOT’s Traveler Information System for later updates before making trips through the area.
