CobbLinc proposes Acworth-Kennesaw zone as comment deadline nears

Kennesaw residents could be included in a proposed new CobbLinc Go microtransit zone, but the service area and operating details are not final. Cobb County is accepting public comments through July 31, 2026, before a public hearing scheduled for Aug. 11.

The proposal covers approximately 31 square miles in the Acworth-Kennesaw area. Microtransit would provide shared rides requested on demand, working alongside CobbLinc’s existing fixed-route bus service rather than replacing it.

What the draft plan proposes

The draft Title VI equity analysis describes proposed weekday service from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. It also lists a proposed one-way fare of $2.50 and free transfers to local bus routes.

For Kennesaw residents, the potential benefit would be additional coverage for trips that do not line up well with fixed-route schedules or locations. The proposed service-area context also includes Kennesaw State University, making the plan potentially relevant to students, employees and other riders who need transportation without relying on a personal vehicle.

The draft analysis does not establish a final launch date, final boundary or final operating policy. Those details remain subject to the county’s review and public process.

What the equity analysis says

CobbLinc’s draft Title VI analysis characterizes the proposal as an expansion of service and says it would not remove existing transit access. The document also says the proposed expansion would exceed CobbLinc’s current disparate-impact threshold for minority populations.

That finding is part of a draft county and CobbLinc analysis, not an independent final determination. It is intended to inform public review of the proposed service and does not by itself approve the zone.

Deadlines for Kennesaw-area residents

Written public comments are due by July 31, 2026. Cobb County has also scheduled a public hearing for Aug. 11, 2026. The county’s public notices describe the process as a review of proposed microtransit service changes, following a June 23 Board of Commissioners action that initiated the expansion process.

Residents who may use the service, current CobbLinc riders, businesses and institutions in the proposed area can use the comment period to weigh in before the county makes a final decision. Until that process is complete, Kennesaw is only part of a proposed service zone, and the draft hours, fare and transfer rules should not be treated as final.

The immediate question for Kennesaw is whether the proposed on-demand coverage would fill transportation gaps while preserving access to existing routes. The next formal checkpoint is the Aug. 11 public hearing.
