Tracy-Area Gas and Diesel Prices Rise From Last Week

Stockton-Lodi is being used as a regional proxy for Tracy, not as a Tracy-only city average. Prices at individual Tracy stations can differ, so drivers should check posted pump prices before filling up.
Regular gasoline is down slightly for the day but higher over longer comparisons
AAA lists regular gasoline at $5.472 per gallon, down 0.2 cents from the previous day’s $5.474 average. The regional price is still 5 cents higher than a week earlier and 20 cents higher than a month earlier.
Compared with the same point last year, regular gasoline is about $1.12 more expensive. The Stockton-Lodi figure is below AAA’s statewide California average of $5.651 on July 31.
Diesel is rising faster than regular gas
Diesel reached $6.705 per gallon in the latest Stockton-Lodi check, up 2 cents from the previous day. It was 11.2 cents higher than a week earlier and 33.8 cents above the month-ago figure.
AAA’s year-over-year comparison shows diesel up approximately $1.50 per gallon. Its weekly and monthly increases are larger than regular gasoline’s, a difference that matters for delivery fleets, contractors, farm equipment, commercial vehicles and other diesel users.
Why the regional numbers matter in Tracy
Higher fuel costs can put pressure on household budgets for commuters, including people driving to jobs in the Bay Area or Central Valley. Contractors and service businesses may face higher travel costs between appointments, while delivery operators and restaurants may see added expense in supply and distribution runs.
Farmers and other operators using diesel-powered equipment may feel the increase more directly because diesel has posted the larger gains across the reported day, week and month comparisons. Weekend travelers also have another reason to compare nearby stations before filling up.
The next regional check will show whether the recent increase continues and whether price differences among individual Tracy stations change.
