Toledo Gas Tops $4 as Diesel Reaches $5.25 in Latest AAA Check

Regular gasoline in the Toledo metro rose above $4 per gallon while diesel climbed to about $5.25 in AAA’s latest price check, continuing a sharp run-up for both fuels.

AAA listed Toledo’s regular-gas average at $4.016 per gallon on July 31, 2026. That was 12.7 cents higher than the previous day, 7.6 cents higher than a week earlier, 24.3 cents higher than a month earlier and $1.155 higher than a year earlier.

Diesel reaches about $5.25

Diesel moved separately but also higher. AAA listed the Toledo metro diesel average at $5.249 per gallon, up 7 cents from the previous day. Diesel was 30.8 cents higher than a week earlier, 28.7 cents higher than a month earlier and $1.626 higher than a year earlier.

The previous AAA Toledo check listed regular gas at $3.889 and diesel at $5.179. The latest figures show both fuels rising again, with diesel posting the larger year-over-year increase.

These are Toledo metro averages, not prices at every individual station. Drivers may see meaningful differences depending on the neighborhood, retailer, payment method and timing of the purchase. The Ohio average on July 31 was $4.000 for regular gas and $5.248 for diesel, while the national regular-gas average was $4.106.

What higher prices may affect locally

For commuters and households, the increase can raise the cost of regular trips, weekend travel and summer activities. A driver who fills a 15-gallon tank would pay about $1.91 more at the Toledo metro average than at the previous day’s average, before accounting for station-to-station differences.

Diesel costs reach beyond the pump. Contractors, delivery operators, farmers, restaurants, service companies and other businesses that depend on diesel-powered vehicles or equipment may face higher transportation, delivery and operating costs. Those expenses can become part of decisions about service calls, delivery charges, equipment use and household prices, although the AAA data does not identify how any specific Toledo business is responding.

For now, the next useful benchmark will be whether Toledo’s regular-gas and diesel averages continue rising after the July 31 jump or begin to ease in the next check.
