Akron Metro Gas Hits $4.095; Diesel Reaches $5.294
AAA’s July 31 Akron metro check put regular gas at $4.095 and diesel at $5.294, with both fuels higher than the previous day, week, month and year.
Regular gasoline in the Akron metro averaged $4.095 per gallon in AAA’s July 31, 2026, price check, while diesel averaged $5.294. Regular gas rose 17.4 cents from the previous day, and diesel increased 4.7 cents. Both fuels were also higher than their levels a week, month and year earlier.
Regular gasoline rises to $4.095
AAA reported that the Akron metro regular-gas average climbed from $3.921 the previous day. The July 31 average was 15.7 cents higher than a week earlier, 37.5 cents above the month-earlier level and $1.127 higher than the same point a year earlier.
That figure is an Akron metro average, not a price charged at every station in Akron or the surrounding area. Individual pump prices can vary by neighborhood, brand, fuel grade, loyalty program and the timing of a station’s latest price change.
Diesel reaches $5.294
Diesel averaged $5.294 per gallon in the same AAA check, up from $5.247 the previous day. Diesel was 32.5 cents higher than a week earlier, 33.8 cents above the prior month’s average and $1.697 higher than a year earlier.
The separate increases affect households and businesses in different ways. Higher gasoline prices can raise weekly commuting costs for residents who drive to jobs, schools, appointments and errands. Higher diesel prices can add pressure to delivery fleets, construction contractors, landscapers, repair companies, restaurants receiving supplies and other businesses that operate work trucks or equipment.
What Akron-area drivers should watch
For weekend travelers, the latest averages indicate that filling a tank costs more than it did during earlier summer checks. Drivers may want to compare nearby stations before leaving home, particularly when planning longer trips or several stops.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration provides broader Ohio, Midwest and national gasoline and diesel context, but its reporting schedule and geographic measures differ from AAA’s daily Akron metro check. Those figures should not be treated as a substitute for the local average.
