Akron Adopts 2026 Capital Budget With $1.484 Million in Projects

Akron has adopted its 2026 capital budget, directing $1.484 million to four priorities: a polymer cluster innovation center, redevelopment of the University of Akron’s Polsky Building, implementation of the Innerbelt Master Plan and neighborhood business districts.

The budget allocates $184,000 to the polymer cluster innovation center and $250,000 toward the Polsky Building redevelopment. It provides another $500,000 for the Innerbelt Master Plan and $550,000 for Akron neighborhood business districts.

Together, the allocations show where the city has identified public investment priorities for 2026: business and technology development, a major university facility, transportation-related planning and neighborhood commercial activity. The budget amounts identify funding for those purposes but do not establish the total cost of any project.
