Colorado Springs Gas Rises to $4.13 While Diesel Falls Below $5.12

Regular gasoline continued higher across the Colorado Springs metro in AAA’s latest price check, while diesel moved sharply lower for the day. As of July 31, 2026, AAA listed the Colorado Springs metro average at $4.134 per gallon for regular gas and $5.119 for diesel.

The split matters because gasoline and diesel users are facing different short-term price trends. Regular gas increased by 2 cents from the previous daily check and was 6.2 cents higher than a week earlier. AAA’s comparisons also showed gasoline above its month-ago and year-ago levels.

Gasoline keeps moving higher

At roughly $4.13 per gallon, the Colorado Springs metro gasoline average remains a significant household cost for commuters, parents driving children to activities, weekend travelers and residents with longer daily trips. The latest weekly increase suggests the pressure has not been limited to a single day.

The AAA figure is a metro average, not the price at every station in Colorado Springs. Individual pumps may be higher or lower depending on location, brand, competition and whether a station offers discounts through a loyalty program or membership.

Diesel falls for the day but remains elevated

Diesel averaged $5.119 per gallon in the same AAA check, down 7.7 cents from the previous daily reading. That decline brought the average below $5.12, but it did not erase diesel’s longer-term premium.

AAA’s comparison showed diesel still 13.4 cents higher than a week earlier. The fuel also remained above its month-ago and year-ago comparisons despite the one-day drop. For contractors, delivery operators, farmers, fleet owners and other diesel users, the daily decline therefore does not yet represent a return to lower overall operating costs.

Different fuel users may feel different pressures

Gasoline-heavy households may see the latest increase show up first in commuting and routine errands. Diesel-dependent businesses may welcome the daily decline, but their fuel budgets remain exposed to prices above recent weekly, monthly and yearly benchmarks.

Those costs can affect more than the pump. Contractors and service companies may watch fuel expenses when estimating jobs, while delivery operators and restaurants may factor transportation costs into operating decisions. Weekend travelers and visitors attending local events may also notice differences among station prices, even when the metro average changes only by a few cents.

The latest data does not identify a specific cause for the separate gasoline and diesel movements. It does show that the two fuels are not moving in tandem in Colorado Springs: gasoline is rising across the available comparison windows, while diesel’s daily decline has not eliminated its broader price premium.
