Both prices were below the latest Colorado statewide averages reported by AAA, but the figures represent one station rather than a Castle Rock-wide average.
Regular gas was below the Colorado average
AAA listed Colorado’s regular-gas average at $4.143 per gallon on Aug. 1. The Sam’s Club listing was about 36 cents lower than that statewide figure.
AAA’s Colorado regular-gas average declined from $4.161 the previous day but remained above the $4.107 average recorded one week earlier. That means regular gas was easing day over day while still running higher than it had a week before.
Diesel moved higher on both comparisons
The Castle Rock Sam’s Club diesel listing was $4.80 per gallon, compared with AAA’s Colorado diesel average of $5.186. The station listing was about 39 cents below the statewide average.
Diesel was moving differently from regular gasoline in AAA’s comparison data. The Colorado average rose from $5.181 the previous day and from $5.038 one week earlier.
Why the difference matters locally
For commuters and households, a station price below the state average may offer short-term relief, especially for drivers who regularly fill larger vehicles.
