Pasadena-Area Gas Tops $5.70; Diesel Reaches $7.11

Regular gasoline in Pasadena’s relevant fuel market rose to $5.710 per gallon on Saturday, Aug. 1, while diesel reached $7.113, according to the latest AAA price check for the Los Angeles-Long Beach metro area.

Those are metro averages used as a benchmark for Pasadena, not a Pasadena-only station average. Individual pumps in Pasadena may be higher or lower depending on the station, brand, neighborhood, payment method and timing of the latest price update.

Regular gas continues to rise

The Los Angeles-Long Beach regular-gas average was up 0.3 cents from Friday’s $5.707 price. It was 2.7 cents higher than a week earlier, 28.5 cents above the level from a month ago, and $1.237 higher than a year ago.

At the current metro average, a 15-gallon fill-up would cost about $85.65 before any station-to-station difference. Compared with the year-ago average, the same fill-up costs roughly $18.56 more.

Diesel is moving faster over longer periods

Diesel rose 0.5 cents from Friday, 6.5 cents from a week earlier, 43.3 cents from a month ago, and $1.961 from a year ago. At $7.113 per gallon, a 20-gallon diesel fill-up would total about $142.26 at the metro average.

The larger diesel increase matters beyond truck stops. Contractors, delivery operators, maintenance companies, restaurants that depend on deliveries and other service businesses may face higher transportation and operating costs when diesel remains elevated.

What the numbers mean for Pasadena drivers

Pasadena commuters and households planning August road trips should treat the AAA figures as a market benchmark rather than a guaranteed local pump price. Comparing nearby stations may still produce meaningful savings, especially when prices differ by brand or payment method.

The Energy Information Administration’s latest weekly California data, covering the week of July 27, also showed elevated prices: $5.489 per gallon for regular gasoline and $6.670 for on-highway diesel. The EIA figures use a different reporting schedule and methodology than AAA’s daily metro averages, but they provide statewide context for the current price environment.

Associated Press reporting has linked recent national and California fuel-price pressure to higher crude-oil costs and disruptions affecting global supply. Those factors provide broader context, but they do not mean every Pasadena station changed by the same amount or for the same reason.
