Barnett Road closure continues through November for Marana sewer interceptor work

Barnett Road remains closed to all traffic between Sanders Road and Tangerine Farms Boulevard while the Town of Marana installs sewer pipe and manholes for the North Marana Sewer Interceptor project.

The closure began July 6, 2026. The Town’s traffic-alert page says the closure will continue through the end of November, while the project alert lists Nov. 24, 2026, as the completion date. That date is the Town’s listed construction target, not a guaranteed reopening date.

Where Barnett Road is closed

The closure covers Barnett Road between Sanders Road and Tangerine Farms Boulevard and applies to all traffic. Drivers cannot use that section as a through route between the two roads.

The work is part of the North Marana Sewer Interceptor project. Crews are installing sewer pipe and manholes along the affected section of Barnett Road.

What drivers should know

Construction is scheduled on weekdays from 5 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Town warns that detours may cause delays while the closure remains in place.

Clark Farms Boulevard and Grier Road remain open, according to the Town’s alert. The Town does not establish in the accessible alert index that either road is a designated detour, so drivers should choose routes based on their destination and current conditions.

Route planning through November

Anyone who normally uses Barnett Road between Sanders Road and Tangerine Farms Boulevard should plan an alternate route before reaching the closure. The Town’s delay warning means travel times may vary, but the available public information does not document a specific level of congestion.

The Town’s traffic-alert index also lists separate roadwork on Twin Peaks Road near Sanders Road for Monday, Aug. 3, and Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, with the eastbound lane scheduled to close from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. That work is separate from the Barnett Road sewer project.

Marana’s Wastewater Facilities Infrastructure Improvements Plan, approved in 2022, describes the Town’s sewer collection system and planned capital improvements.
