Yonkers Approves Pelton Park Renovation Contract and Other City Agreements

Yonkers approved a $678,480 contract for Pelton Park renovations during the Board of Contract and Supply meeting on July 28, giving the project a named contractor and a listed contract term running from July 30 through Nov. 30, 2026.

The board marked all recommendations in the meeting package approved. Among the resident-facing actions were separate agreements involving park construction, structural repairs, tree planting, police traffic-analysis software and federally funded housing counseling.

Pelton Park contract awarded

Spitale Construction Resources Inc. received the Pelton Park renovation contract for $678,480. The city’s annotated agenda says the award followed a competitive bid and went to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.

The contract term is listed as July 30 through Nov. 30, 2026. The record identifies the scope as Pelton Park renovations and assigns the expense to the city’s general park improvements account, including the 2026A City of Yonkers bond issue and capital expenses.

The approval means the project has moved to a contract with an awarded vendor and defined contract dates. The agenda does not establish that construction was complete or specify the final public-facing design, access changes or construction sequence.

Park repairs and 359 trees

A separate $148,715 contract went to Structural Contracting Services Inc. for emergency column repairs at the Ashburton Parkadrome. The contract term is listed as July 30 through Dec. 31, 2026.

The package also includes a $260,920 contract with Kevin Downes Tree Service Inc. for a one-year program covering the planting and aftercare of 359 trees. That contract is scheduled to run from Aug. 15, 2026, through Aug. 14, 2027.

The procurement record does not identify the planting locations or provide a site-by-site public schedule. Residents should look for later city notices if Yonkers releases that information.

Police traffic-data contract extended

The board approved a $96,820 amendment for Urban SDK Inc., extending the Yonkers Police Department’s speed and traffic-calming data software contract through Dec. 31, 2029. The amendment raises the revised aggregate contract amount to $124,070.

The agenda says the software licenses support the Police Department’s speed and traffic-calming data work. It also says continuing with Urban SDK is intended to preserve compatibility with the department’s existing traffic-data platform, historical datasets, system configuration and analytical tools.

This approval is for data and software services. It does not itself announce new traffic-calming construction, street changes or a specific enforcement action.

Housing counseling included

The agenda lists a $9,500 contract with Westchester Residential Opportunities Inc. to provide comprehensive housing counseling to 100 residents, including bilingual services related to mortgage default, financial literacy, first-time home buying and eviction prevention.

The contract is funded through Community Development Block Grant funds. Its term is listed in the record as Feb. 1, 2025, through Jan. 31, 2027, even though the item appears in the July 28, 2026 agenda. That date is reported as written and does not establish that the service period newly began with this approval.

Residents should watch for updates on Pelton Park execution, Ashburton Parkadrome repairs, tree-planting locations and schedules, and any future contract amendments or project notices.
