Little Rock board-election filing window is open through Aug. 5
Candidate filing for upcoming Little Rock Board of Directors races is open until noon Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, the City of Little Rock announced. The window began at noon Wednesday, July 29.
The filing period covers Ward 2 and other open positions, though the city’s official election page does not yet provide a complete, final list of candidates who have filed. The specific seats included also may change if vacancies or election notices are updated.
People seeking office must file in person with the Little Rock City Clerk’s Office at Little Rock City Hall, 500 West Markham St. The deadline is noon, not the close of regular business hours.
Required filing materials
Candidates must submit a Statement of Candidacy, valid Arkansas identification and a petition signed by at least 50 qualified city electors.
The city encourages candidates to collect 75 to 100 petition signatures, providing more signatures than the required minimum. Filing paperwork does not itself establish that a candidate has qualified; the City Clerk’s Office must verify the submitted materials.
The active filing period is the first step in setting the candidate field for Little Rock’s 2026 municipal contests. The city’s notice does not identify a likely outcome or assess the competitiveness of any race.
Disclosure and campaign reporting
In addition to the filing materials due by noon Aug. 5, candidates must submit a Statement of Financial Interest no later than Aug. 10, 2026.
Campaign contribution reports must be filed electronically through the Arkansas Secretary of State’s ethics-disclosure system, according to the city’s election information.
These requirements apply alongside the candidate filing process, meaning prospective candidates have both the immediate filing deadline and the following financial-disclosure deadline to meet.
What happens next
After the Aug. 5 filing deadline, the Clerk’s Office will review the materials submitted by prospective candidates. The city’s official page has not yet posted a complete final list of filed candidates.
Officials elected in the upcoming contests will take office Jan. 1, 2027. For now, the next stated deadline is Aug. 5 at noon for in-person candidate filing, followed by the Aug. 10 deadline for Statements of Financial Interest.
