The 2026 Mubadala Citi DC Open concluded Aug. 2 at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Washington, D.C., completing the local stop on the WTA professional tennis calendar.
The WTA classifies the tournament as a WTA 500 event and lists its competition dates as July 27 through Aug. 2. The event brought international professional players to the District for singles and doubles competition.
Field size and tournament format
The WTA event overview lists 32 players in the singles field and 16 teams in the doubles field. Those entries set the scale of the women’s competition staged at the FitzGerald Tennis Center.
The WTA 500 designation identifies the event’s level on the women’s professional tour. The approved source material also identifies the event as one awarding WTA ranking points, making the Washington tournament part of the competitive professional schedule rather than an exhibition.
The conclusion on Aug. 2 marks the end of the WTA-listed competition window for the 2026 Washington event. The supplied materials do not provide final singles or doubles champions, match scores, draws, attendance totals or a tournament economic-impact figure.
Two published date ranges
Events DC promoted the Citi DC Open as a major annual tennis event in the nation’s capital and gave a broader July 25-to-Aug. 2 timeframe. The WTA, meanwhile, lists July 27 through Aug. 2 as the tournament’s official competition dates.
The two date ranges should not be treated as conflicting descriptions of match play. The WTA’s listing specifically identifies the tournament competition period, while Events DC’s notice promoted the wider event timeframe ending on the same Aug. 2 date.
What the completion means for Washington
The tournament’s completion closes a WTA 500 professional tennis event hosted in the District at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center. It also concludes this year’s scheduled Washington competition as described in the available official materials.
Events DC characterized the Citi DC Open as Washington’s premier tennis tournament, underscoring its place on the city’s sports calendar. The available packet does not identify another Washington match, a post-tournament decision or a next local competition date following the Aug. 2 finish.
Because the official material supplied for this report does not document the final results, the tournament’s conclusion should not be read as confirmation of any particular champion, scoreline, crowd figure or financial outcome.
