Oklahoma Republican runoff set Aug. 4 for governor and three other statewide offices
Oklahoma voters are set to decide Republican nominees for governor and three other statewide offices in an Aug. 4, 2026, primary runoff, according to the Oklahoma State Election Board’s official August election list.
The gubernatorial runoff pairs Gentner Drummond and Mike Mazzei. The ballot also includes Republican statewide runoffs for superintendent of public instruction, commissioner of labor and insurance commissioner.
The Aug. 4 election is a primary runoff, not the general election. Candidates who win their runoff contests will move on to the Nov. 3 general election.
Four named statewide Republican contests
In the governor’s race, Republican voters will choose between Drummond and Mazzei for their party’s nomination.
Robert Franklin and James Taylor are listed in the Republican runoff for superintendent of public instruction. That contest will determine the Republican nominee for the statewide office.
Kevin West and John Pfeiffer are listed in the Republican runoff for commissioner of labor. Bob Sullivan and Marty L. Quinn are listed in the Republican runoff for insurance commissioner.
Those four races are the named statewide Republican runoff contests identified on the Election Board’s August 2026 list: governor, superintendent of public instruction, commissioner of labor and insurance commissioner.
Other races also appear on the August election list
The statewide Republican contests are not the only elections on the Aug. 4 list. The Election Board also lists a Democratic U.S. Senate runoff, along with multiple legislative and county contests.
That broader list means the August ballot includes races at different levels of government. The legislative and county contests should not be treated as statewide elections.
The official election list identifies the offices and candidates scheduled for the runoff. It does not, by itself, establish which candidate is favored in any race. The approved election materials do not provide turnout projections, campaign-finance totals or polling for these contests.
What happens after the runoff
The immediate next electoral step is the Aug. 4 runoff. The winners of the primary runoff contests will face the Nov. 3 general election, when voters will decide the offices for the next term.
The Election Board’s 2026 candidate filing information also sets an Aug. 28, 2026, deadline for candidates who withdraw from the general election. That is a post-primary election-cycle deadline and is separate from the Aug. 4 runoff vote.
For voters following the governor’s race, Aug. 4 will settle the Republican nomination between Drummond and Mazzei. The same vote will settle the Republican nominations in the three other named statewide contests.
The results will determine which runoff candidates advance to the November ballot. The Election Board’s materials establish the election schedule and candidate pairings, but do not offer a forecast of the outcomes.
