Dubuque Set to Host RAGBRAI Finish for First Time in 16 Years
Dubuque was scheduled to host the final day of the 2026 Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa on Saturday, July 25, bringing a large temporary influx of cyclists and visitors to the city and requiring coordination on roads, parking, camping and other services.
The City of Dubuque said the ride had not visited the city in 16 years. For the 2026 event, Dubuque was identified as the final destination, rather than an overnight stop along the route.
A full-day arrival window
Riders were expected to begin arriving in Dubuque before 6 a.m. and continue throughout the day. The city expected between 25,000 and 40,000 bicyclists to participate in RAGBRAI overall.

Travel Dubuque said the route was scheduled to close in Dubuque at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 25. The closure was part of the transportation planning required for a finish that was expected to draw riders and visitors across much of the day.
