Cashiers Valley Road to close again Aug. 10 for culvert installation

Cashiers Valley Road is scheduled to close again from Aug. 10 through Sept. 4 as part of the Brushy Creek culvert-repair project, according to an updated notice from the Town of Brevard.
The planned closure affects Cashiers Valley Road between Oakdale Street and Hillview Street. The work is expected to involve installation of a new culvert, which will change access for people using the road through the Cashiers area.
Closures are planned in sequence
The updated schedule separates the Cashiers Valley Road work from a related closure on Hillview Street and Mills Avenue. The two routes are not expected to be closed at the same time.
Cashiers Valley Road was initially scheduled to close June 29. The notice said the road was expected to reopen temporarily July 3. Hillview Street and Mills Avenue were then scheduled to close from July 13 through Aug. 8.
After that closure, Cashiers Valley Road is projected to close again beginning Aug. 10, with the closure continuing through Sept. 4 for the new-culvert installation.
The Town of Brevard published the original notice June 18 and updated it July 8. The dates are expected or projected rather than guaranteed; construction conditions could require changes to the schedule.
Alternate access for nearby streets
During the Cashiers Valley Road closure, the notice directs travelers serving Hillview Circle, Hillview Avenue, the western portion of Hillview Street, Locks Drive and Wynn Drive to use West Main Street and Mills Avenue.
That guidance is intended to preserve access to the listed residential streets while the culvert work is underway. It does not indicate that every road or all traffic in Cashiers will be disrupted.
The project is a transportation and drainage construction effort affecting streets in the Cashiers area. The approved notice does not provide a construction cost, contractor or final completion date, so those details cannot be confirmed here.
What to watch
For commuters, residents, visitors and local businesses using Cashiers Valley Road, the next key date is Aug. 10. The scheduled work period runs through Sept. 4, although the Town of Brevard’s notice says construction conditions may change the projected dates.
