Mission updates Johnson Drive reconstruction and traffic-signal work

Mission reported July 10 that reconstruction of Johnson Drive between Lamar Avenue and Metcalf Avenue was underway, putting work on one of the city’s main east-west routes into an active construction phase.

Separate traffic-signal project

Mission is also continuing a separate effort to enhance traffic signals along the Johnson Drive corridor. The city received Carbon Reduction Program grant funding for that work in partnership with the Mid-America Regional Council.

The signal improvements and the road reconstruction are related because they involve the same transportation corridor, but they are separate projects. The ongoing signal work does not change the reconstruction’s estimated 270-day duration.
