Hernando water-main project has no posted 2026 award after July bid deadline

Hernando sought sealed bids to connect the Byhalia Road Water Plant to the Madison Lakes Elevated Water Tank, but the Mississippi procurement record still lists no awarded vendor, award date or award amount after the July 6, 2026, deadline. Bids were due by 10 a.m. at Hernando City Hall, 475 West Commerce Street.

The proposed work includes about 5,280 linear feet of 12-inch PVC water main and 660 linear feet of 8-inch PVC main. It also includes connections to East Lake Subdivision and Fox Wood Circle, five fire hydrants and 14 service connections to existing residential meters. Contractors would install an 8-by-8-foot concrete vault, valves and restore disturbed areas, including grass seeding across more than four acres.

The specifications call for completion within 120 calendar days once the contract process begins. Delays would carry liquidated damages of $200 per day, and bids required a five-percent bid bond. The city has not posted a construction start date, so residents do not yet have a confirmed schedule for the added water-main capacity, hydrants and residential connections around the Byhalia Road and Madison Lakes areas.
