Watsonville police log records arrest after reported Green Meadow gunfire
Watsonville police say Juan Manuel Nevarez was arrested after a reported firearm discharge in the 200 block of Green Meadow Drive on Oct. 5. The departmentโs press log, prepared Oct. 6, records the case at 9:12 p.m. as case 26W-03601.
The log says Nevarez was arrested for discharging a firearm in public and lists felony allegations including firearm possession by a prohibited person, grossly negligent discharge, possession of a firearm while under the influence of a specified controlled substance, and prohibited-person possession of ammunition. It says he was taken to county jail for housing. A police communications post said no one was injured.
Police accounts reported by Storyful say officers found spent casings, suspected Nevarez of firing into the air, and found two firearms at his home. Those are police-reported allegations, not court findings. The police log does not establish whether prosecutors filed charges or identify a later court proceeding.
