Giants, Commanders tie 27-27 after overtime expires
The New York Giants and Washington Commanders tied 27-27 in overtime on Oct. 11, 2026, at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland. New York came back from a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit to tie the game, but neither team scored in the extra period. Washington’s final possession ended before it could attempt a field goal.
The tie left the Giants with a 3-1-1 record and the Commanders at 1-3-1. It was the seventh overtime game between the teams. Neither club added a win to its record, despite late opportunities to take the lead.
New York tied the score with 1:43 left
Jameis Winston threw two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter and three in the game, finishing with 326 passing yards. The Giants’ rally brought them back from a 14-point deficit, with Malik Nabers’ 17-yard touchdown catch tying the score at 27 with 1:43 remaining in regulation.
The game did not go directly to overtime after Nabers scored. Washington had one last regulation possession, but its drive stalled at midfield. The teams then went to overtime with the score even.
Jayden Daniels scored rushing touchdowns of 38 and 26 yards for Washington. Those scores were part of the Commanders’ offense as they built the lead New York later erased. The Giants’ final regulation touchdown came on Winston’s pass to Nabers.
Overtime chances ended without a score
The Giants had an opportunity to win with a 46-yard field-goal attempt in overtime, but the kick missed. Later, New York had another chance to put the game away before Cam Skattebo fumbled. Washington recovered, giving the Commanders possession and a chance to win.
Daniels moved Washington to the Giants’ 24-yard line on the final possession. The Commanders ran out of time before attempting a field goal, so the score remained 27-27. Neither team scored in overtime: New York’s kick missed, and Washington’s final drive ended before a kick could be tried.
The finish followed a regulation comeback and multiple overtime opportunities, but the final result was a tie rather than a win for either team. The outcome was reflected in both clubs’ records: New York’s became 3-1-1, while Washington’s became 1-3-1.
The Giants were scheduled to host the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Oct. 18. Washington was scheduled to visit the San Francisco 49ers on Monday, Oct. 19.
