Nearly 200 people gathered across four downtown New Bern locations for a No Kings demonstration on Saturday, Oct. 17, according to WITN. Representatives from Craven, Carteret and Pamlico counties were in attendance. The rally took place while North Carolinaโs early-voting period was underway.
WITN identified Kathryn Garcia as a representative of the ENC Coalition for Pamlico County. Garcia said encouraging people to vote was a goal and that voters were worried about the midterm elections. WITN also identified Patricia Toth as founder of the Craven County Indivisible chapter and reported her remarks about political division and the demonstrationโs stated principles.
Before the event, Public Radio East reported that a coalition representing Craven, Carteret and Pamlico counties planned the Oct. 17 New Bern rally to encourage early voting and provide civic education.
