Leon County Supervisor of Elections Mark Earley said two Customs and Border Protection vehicles parked at Northeast Branch Library, an early-voting site in Tallahassee, at about 10:15 a.m. Oct. 19, and appeared to remain approximately 10 minutes before leaving the vicinity.
In a statement issued Oct. 21, Earley said he raised concerns with local, state and federal partners and filed a formal complaint with the FBI. He described the library as the county elections officeโs busiest early-voting site. The office said it received no calls from voters about the vehicles.
The officeโs report of no calls does not establish whether anyone saw the vehicles or whether voting was affected. Earley did not say why the vehicles were there, and his statement gave no FBI finding or complaint outcome. Earley said voters should not experience intimidation from law enforcement or other government officials; his statement did not say intimidation occurred in this incident.
