Evansville police have made a third arrest in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old James Brown Jr., WFIE and WNIN reported. Both outlets identified the person arrested as a 16-year-old. WFIE reported that the teen was charged with murder and waived to adult court, citing a police report and jail records.
Brown was shot and killed Oct. 11. Police found him in the 800 block of Madison Avenue near Bedford Avenue, the outlets reported. The two earlier murder arrests were 18-year-old Keaton Howard and 17-year-old Ayden Simms, reported on Oct. 15 and Oct. 22, respectively. WFIE published its report of the third arrest Oct. 25; WNIN followed on Oct. 26. Those are publication dates, not a confirmed date for the 16-year-oldโs arrest.
Does the third arrest mean the case is resolved? No. The arrest and charge do not establish guilt, and neither report identified a next court date.
